You talkin’ to me?

Online networking is a like a whirlwind, conversations take place each and every day, questions are asked and answered, links are exchanged and meetings arranged.

How do you keep up, how do you monitor all that traffic, how do you know who you have spoken to, what arrangements you have made, or comments missed?

One of the best ways is to create twitter lists, but this is a time consuming, onerous task.

Just who are you talkin’ to?

Enter Formulists

You join by using your Twitter account using OAuth.

The first list I created was the recent interactions one.

Creating this one list, identifies all the people I have exchanged messages with on twitter in the recent past.

Now this means I can track their tweets and our subsequent interaction.

My next step was to create a custom list from the people I am following, by using the phrase ‘SQL’ (the phrase can be anything you like).

This created a list of all those people with the word SQL in their profile. Simple. Saving hours of searching and ticking.

Now I can follow that list in hootsuite or tweetdeck and it will be refreshed every day , as will my interactions list.

I can then, if I wish, use the lists to create daily newspapers, but that is another story.

Er, wow, Stephen! Thank goodness I don’t really use Twitter much, because just reading through your (no doubt very helpful) post made my eyes glaze over!

Thanks Stephen, I found this tool really useful :) and now acknowledge most of the people I tweet with :0)

Great utility Stephen – thanks for mentioning it. Makes it easy to keep track of the Twitter timeline.
