Currently not many people have an iPad compared with other tech. Currently the competition for the iPad, other tablet computers, is in its infancy. Currently therefore you might know nothing about Flipboard.
Flipboard is an app for the iPad. One of my mentors says that this single App will sell millions of the devices. What Flipboard does is simple. It takes your Twitter/Facebook/Social Media feeds and allows you to read it as if it were a magazine. Nothing stunning there I hear you say.
However until you actually see it, as in the attached video, you don’t really get it. I have not got an iPad… yet!
I was obviously attracted to this video because the architecture featured is in Valencia!
Flipboard might well be the app that changes that because, for example, I produce content for the internet and reams of it at that. That content can be sent out to my subscribers as a stunning magazine in Flipboard rather than just a series of interesting links.
Now if you are the one providing the most popular stuff then it changes again but more of that in a future article.
Your friends’ pictures, videos and life are given to you in glorious all action technicolour and as a result you “feel” closer to them.
Flipboard is a bit of a game changer in the way we consume content and interact with others therefore. However there is another way to look at this sort of thing which although not as intuitive and entertaining is still good for giving you an idea.
For those who haven’t got an ipad yet why not try out www.paper.li. This is the desktop or laptop version of the app really, not nearly as interactive but a lot more fun than a list of links sent through to your followers on Twitter or whatever social media platform you prefer. If you like paper.li you are going to be blown away by Flipboard and the iPad.
By the way you can see my paper at www.paper.li/grahunt. The only drawback I can see with it is that I did mine at 1am in the morning and it comes out every 24 hours. I really should have done it to read over breakfast.
