Now hang on a minute. You're bringing my profession (the media) into disrepute. I will expect a full apology and a handshake forthwith, or I will send Pat Nevin to scythe you down from behind.

I think you're confusing a handful of tabloid hacks with a few million honest journeymen journalists.

The world has gone crazy - Whitney Houston dies .....and a million people cry. A million people die in Africa and nobody bats an eyelid.

Suarez does or does not shake hands with Evra .....and a million people write.
A million people die in Africa and nobody bats an eyelid. I am sure no quality member of the human race would ever condone the chanting about Hillsborough - Man Utd fans or whoever. I was given a wallet by a huge Liverpool fan as I cycled to all 92 grounds in England/Wales. He got me a Liverpool shirt and my "obligation" was to carry the wallet. I did. I still use it. As a Man Utd fanatic that reminds me of Liverpool every time I buy a coffee! I also have a "96" Shirt as part of the 2000 shirts that are stitched together. It was added with pride. Lest we forget ...... Manchester Utd won 2-1 Lest we forget ..... 45 million refugees are wandering around the planet and it's tough to raise a cent.

Who would have thought the humble handshake would have been brought into such disrepute. Funny as well how recently poor old handshake has been in the news a bit. First Sarkozy "snubbing" Cameron. The Handshake wasn't even allowed out when Terry and Ferdinand played and then we end up with this old mess with Suarez.

What the hell? - boxers after belling the crap out of each other even if all the prematch talk was about how they would smash skulls in - its not that they respect each other any more I suspect (well maybe a little if you have just had your butt kicked) but respect for the sport that they play and the rules they observed.

There is this whole thing called 90 minutes where 2 teams of 11 play a game where a football is kicked and they try to score goals - The media have their own version - they tend to concentrate on all the stuff either side of the 90 minutes apart from those "decisions" which are then the focus.

Anyone remember the score from the manu liverpool game? - ask them in 6 months - they will know the handshake never happened - - - and that makes it a circus !

I feel your pain. Truly imprescriptible.

I have an image of three hundred metres of copper wire on a spool down a hole somewhere in Maidenhead and an engineer who thought the easiest thing to do was to join either end into the system.

Not wanting to add to your pain, but I signed up for 30Mbps with VirginOnTheRidiculous here in Edinburgh and that's about what I get.

Worst Test batting display I have ever seen and I have been watching since 1956. The pitches weren't that bad. My Sunday casuals eleven wouldn't have done much worse.

Phil, have you been watching beach volleyball for six months? Four replies on your day of posting in August 2011 and now you respond?

As for uploading, ask Babs for a WP login and upload it yourself. That way a QR code will get in. Even after six months...

Interesting stats especially when you consider that Bell in particular has been scoring runs for fun for a couple of years. He just didn't have a clue against the doosra though. Morgan looked Ok in the last innings when he finally decided to have a go instead of just waiting for the ball with his name on to arrive

Lisa, I thought about this again, the other day. We need to see all holidays based on religious feasts -- Christian, Jewish, Moslem and Hindu -- from the inside out.

The emphasis should be on what they mean personally to us and our families and communities. Christmas (Yuletide) is about new life after a dark midwinter but also about our connections with others, generosity and goodwill. That's inside-out.

Outside-in is allowing the commercial bonanza to drive our behaviour and reacting to others' profiting from the fripperies of the holiday season.

Shall we call it SantaProfit?
