Breast Cancer Awareness Month – ‘Pink Shed Campaign’

Breast Cancer Awareness Month is fast approaching. October is dedicated to raising awareness and money to this campaign and encourage donations.

Breast Cancer is the most common cancer in the UK with 1 in 8 women being diagnosed with breast cancer each year – that’s more than 130 a day and one person every 10 minutes. In the UK in 2011, around 49,900 women were diagnosed with breast cancer.

Female breast cancer rates in Great Britain have increased 72% since the mid 1970’s and around 8 in 10 breast cancers are diagnosed in women aged 50 and over.

Just under 12,000 people die from breast cancer in the UK every year – it’s estimated that 550,000 people living in the UK today have had a diagnosis of breast cancer.

pinkshedEasyshed LTD are raising awareness and funds to support Breast Cancer Care, firstly we are donating £200 directly to the charity. Secondly, we are running a ‘Pink Shed’ campaign – we aim to get a picture we have created of a pink shed shared 10,000 times on Facebook, if we manage to make this happen- Easyshed will create our very own pink shed range, available for the public to buy directly from our website. We feel this is a brilliant way of raising awareness and helps the shed market branch out to the female target audience. Because sheds shouldn’t just be for men!

Breast Cancer Care is the only UK-wide support charity; they help thousands of women waking up to the harsh reality of breast cancer every day. There are many ways to face breast cancer; Easyshed are here to help people face theirs.

Note from Editor: much as we’re keen to support anything that raises awareness and funding for a charity, one does wonder if women actually want pink sheds… We suggest that they’d far rather buy a shed and paint it any colour they choose, much as men do…
